22111. Padma awardee farmer who turned barren land into heavenly orchard with innovation
- Amai Mahalinga Naik, an innovative farmer from Karnataka's Adyanadka village in Dakshina Kannada, has been conferred with the Padma Shri award 2022 for transforming a barren sloping hill into a fertile farm.
- Using the innovative Zero-Energy Micro-Irrigation System, Naik turned a barren plot of land into an oasis comprising Arecanut Palms, Coconut Trees, Cashew Trees, Banana Saplings, and Pepper Vines.
- after digging around 30 feet deep, the sixth tunnel, he found the water source for his farm. Innovative farmer Amai Mahalinga Naik now uses the same water source for irrigation purposes.
22112. GoZero Mobility to invest $1 mn to expand presence in North-East India
- GoZero Mobility plans to invest USD 1 million to expand its presence in the north-eastern part of the country. Moreover, the company aims to create over 100 jobs in this region in the next 3 years.
- GoZero Mobility’s current product range in India includes electric bicycles under the brand name ‘One’, ‘Mile’, and ‘Skelling’. “The electric vehicle revolution is gathering pace in India and the British e-bike manufacturer has an aggressive roadmap to tap on the opportunity and ride on the increasing popularity of clean vehicles in the North-East.
- Proposed investment would be towards creating a large retail flow in the region and setting up local assembly units to enable faster/same-day delivery and create jobs in the region,” the company said in a press statement.

22113. विंटर खेलों में यूरोप को चुनौती देगा लद्दाख, लेह, कारगिल में पूरा साल, दिन रात खेली जाएगी आइस हाकी
- कभी खेलों में पिछड़ने वाला बर्फीला लद्दाख विकास की राह पर अग्रसर होने के बाद अब विंटर खेलों में युरोप को चुनौती देने के लिए तैयार हो रहा है। वह दिन दूर नही है जब लद्दाख के आइस मैदानों में विश्व के अन्य देशों की टीमें खेलती नजर आएंगी।वर्ष 2022 में लद्दाख में खेल क्रांति लाएगा। स्पितुक में तीस हजार लाेगों की क्षमता वाले क्षेत्र के पहले सिंथेटिक ट्रेक वाले एस्ट्रो टर्फ फुटबाल स्टेडयिम के पूरा हो जाने के साथ क्षेत्र में 52 आइस हाकी रिंक होंगे। आइस हाकी खेल को बढ़ावा देने के लिए लद्दाख के लेह व कारगिल जिला मुख्यालय में दो ऐसे हन्डौर हाकी रिंक होंगे जिनमें पूरा साल, दिन-रात आइस हाकी खेली जा सकेगी।
- लद्दाख खेल विभाग ने प्रदेश के सभी 31 ब्लाकों में एक एक आइस हाकी रिंक बनाने का लक्ष्य तय किया है। इनमें से 20 आइस हाकी रिंक बनकर तैयार हो गए हैं। लद्दाख प्रशासन ने खेल मैदानाें से खिलाड़ियों के साथ पर्यटकों को भी लद्दाख के दूरदराज इलाकों तक ले जाने की तैयारी की है।
- इसके लिए इस समय कारगिल के द्रास में स्कीइंग इन्स्टीटयूट बनाने की दिशा मेे कार्यवाही के साथ लेह में राक क्लाइंबिंग के लिए भी बुनियादी ढांचा बनाया जा रहा है।लद्दाख स्वास्थ्य विभाग के प्रशासनिक सचिव रविन्द्र कुमार का कहना है प्रदेश जल्द विंटर खेलों में देश में सबसे आगे होगा। इस प्रदेश में आइस हाकी के राष्ट्रीय व अंतरराष्ट्रीय खिलाड़ी तैयार होंगे।
22114. Jammu and Kashmir Government approves J&K Sports Policy 2022
- The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday approved the J&K Sports Policy 2022. The new sports policy is aimed at promoting sports in the Union Territory by developing sports infrastructure and incentivising sportspersons to excel in their respective sports.
- The policy, as per an official statement, strives to achieve excellence by involving all the stakeholders and establishing inter-departmental synergies for composite development of sports.
- “The basic canons of the sports policy are to ‘Scout’- identify talent and catch them young; ‘Engage’- ensure grassroots inclusive engagement in sports and games; ‘Facilitate’-provide sports infrastructure, facilities, know-how, and training; and ‘Recognize’- acknowledge the achievements and contributions through awards and further employment,” the official statement read.
22115. 1,200 industrial units in pipeline for Jammu & Kashmir
- While only 1,919 industrial units in the organised sector were established in Kashmir since 1947, the J&K administration is in process of allotting land to about 1,200 new units for industrial development in the region.
- In two and half years since the abrogation of J&K’s special status under Article 370, the region is well on its way to become a model union territory, with investments, infrastructure, tourism, social welfare and agriculture showing unprecedented growth
- Among the big groups that have already been allotted land in Kashmir for establishing their units include Jindal Steels. UAE-based retail major Lulu group is also setting up a food processing and logistic hub in Kashmir and it has already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the J&K government in this regard.
22116. This 17-yr-old entrepreneur’s startup is helping blue and grey-collar workers upskill and find employment
- Led by young entrepreneur Ahaan Aggarwal, Junoon is a startup that is leading from the front in tackling the pandemic led job losses of blue and grey collar workers.
- Realising the seriousness of this situation, 17-year-old Ahaan Aggarwal (Gurugram) conceptualised and developed Junoon — a platform to help struggling workers. Ahaan began working on the platform in April, alongside pursuing his IB and High School Diploma from the American Embassy School in New Delhi. In August 2020, Junoon, a simple, instruction-based online vocational training and job search platform focused on blue-collar and grey-collar jobs, was launched.
- “Junoon serves to help unskilled and semi-skilled workers review or acquire career-specific skills and become better qualified. Our long-term goal is to provide necessary opportunities to enable widespread economic independence,” Ahaan tells YourStory.
22117. Taxi, please! This Delhi startup provides an entire EV stack for corporate fleet
- EV startup eee-Taxi presently operates 1,000 electric vehicles in Delhi and Hyderabad. It has been seed funded by Shell and expects to go pan-India by 2022.
- Helping these taxis go all-electric is eee-Taxi — a Delhi-based startup founded by Nishant Saini and Vipul Nanda in 2015.
- "Our seamless integration of the EV ecosystem links our vehicle diagnostics technology to show the status of charge of the vehicle. With the availability of information on charge time, the software helps companies plan their employee routes efficiently. Our tech team talks to our smart charging infrastructure provider, which shows the availability of chargers, and allows fleets to drop employees."
22118. Ex-Paytm execs' digital payments startup Junio aims to make kids financially smart
- Led Shankar Nath and Ankit Gera’s startup Junio is a payments instrument for the under-18 group that draws from the concept of pocket money.
- Shankar and Ankit Gera, former Assistant Vice-President and head of growth at India’s most valuable unicorn, founded Junio, a payments instrument for children under 18 that works on the principle of pocket money.
- “A majority of purchases today happen online, so most children end up borrowing their parents’ credit card,” says Shankar. “But this also means limited control over where the card is being spent. This led us to start Junio.”
22119. [Startup Bharat] Jiyyo Mitra e-Clinic is helping patients in rural and semi-urban areas access better healthcare
- Founded in 2017, Chandigarh-based startup Jiyyo Mitra e-Clinic is collaborating with the local healthcare workforce from rural and semi-urban facilities to help patients connect with specialised doctors across the country.
- According to a December 2020 report by the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) and healthtech giant Practo, non-metro cities recorded a growth of 7X in online consultations between March and November 2020 compared to 2019. It also revealed that the metro to non-metro ratio for online consultations stood at 60:40 in 2020, as compared to 75:25 in 2019.
- Siddharth, Co-founder and CEO, tells YourStory, “Meghna and I came up with the idea of Jiyyo in the waiting room at PGI Chandigarh Hospital while our father was undergoing a medical procedure. We realised while many of us had to purchase the same medicines, we got them at different prices, and villagers are more susceptible to the downsides of such pricing vagaries.”
22120. [Funding alert] Home design startup Livspace raises $90M led by Kharis Capital, Venturi Partners
- The startup said funds will be utilised to further develop the technology platform, expand to newer markets in Asia-Pacific and tier-II cities in India, and expand supply chain, private labels, and new offerings across Asia-Pacific.
- In India, Livspace is looking at entering dozens of new cities including Lucknow, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, where homeowners are eagerly awaiting the launch of an organised, internet-fist brand for their home renovation needs.
- Livspace currently serves nine metro areas in India (Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Mumbai, Thane, and Pune) and expanded into APAC with its Singapore market entry in October 2019.
